Terms
Draft for review · 4 November 2026
Same Canoe is a free app for logging small acts for the Earth and seeing them glow on a shared map. By using it you agree to these terms.
Be honest
Log what you really did. The counts only mean something if they’re true.
A photo with an act has to be one you took for it, that day or the day before: taken with your camera there and then, or chosen from your photos. Past 50 trees and plants, 500 pieces of litter or 20 refused items in a day, each log needs a photo, and big logs need a photo and the group they were with, one you’re in.
Same Canoe may remove logs that look made up, and close accounts that make them up.
Be kind
Don’t post anything hateful, threatening, sexual, violent, illegal or misleading, and don’t spam, bully or impersonate anyone.
Names, yours, a group’s and an event’s, can’t have swear words, slurs or other words that put people down, and can’t use Same Canoe’s own name.
Only share photos you have the right to share. Don’t post photos of other people without their permission, and never of children who aren’t yours.
Don’t share anyone’s private details, including where they live.
What happens if someone breaks the rules
You can report a post, a reply or a group, and block anyone. Same Canoe may hide or remove anything that breaks these terms and may close accounts that do.
A group that pretends to be another group or organisation, or whose name breaks these terms, may be renamed, taken out of search or removed by Same Canoe.
What you post
What you post stays yours. You allow Same Canoe to show it in the app and on its website, so the community can see it. Deleting it, or your account, removes it.
What belongs to Same Canoe
Same Canoe’s name, logo, look, drawings, words and code belong to its maker, and all rights are reserved. It isn’t open source.
You may use the app as it’s meant to be used. Don’t copy, sell or reuse any part of it, its code included, without written permission.
The fonts, data and code that others share openly and Same Canoe uses stay under their own licences, listed under Credits in Settings.
Events, groups and the outdoors
Organisers are responsible for their own events. Look after yourself and others: take care near the sea, roads and rubbish, and wear gloves when you pick up litter.
A group can be found by its name once it has at least 3 members and is a week old, or straight away when a trusted organiser runs it. Its admins choose who joins.
Be still and Go outside are for calm and wellbeing, not medical advice.
Age
You need to be 13 or older to use Same Canoe.
No guarantees
Same Canoe is offered as it is, without promises that it will always be available or free of mistakes. As far as the law allows, Same Canoe isn’t responsible for losses from using it.
Changes and contact
These terms may change as Same Canoe grows. If a change matters, we’ll tell you in the app.
